The BOBs (Blog Awards Blogopedia Blogmap)are the world’s largest international Weblog awards for Weblogs, podcasts and videoblogs. The BOBs are organized by Deutsche Welle, Germany’s international public broadcaster. The mission of Deutsche Welle is to “provide a forum in Europe and other continents on important issues, with the aim of fostering understanding and exchange between cultures and peoples.”
The awards are given out in 11 different languages:Arabic, Bengali, Chinese,German,English, French, Indonesian, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish
Whats the difference from other International Awards:
The number of languages: The BOBs is different from other international awards. Most of the blog Awards are given to those sites which are written in English. But BOBS give awards to 11 different languages rather than English.
Not just online voting: Winners of the BOBs are decided not only by online voting but also decision of jury experts. So BOBs award a people’s choice and a jury winner.
How does your website nominated:
You need to first submit your blog URL. Then editorial board will check your site that your blog fits to their criteria. No spam-blogs, no fake blogs and certainly no blogs containing illegal or racist material are allowed. Once your blog has gone through the editorial process you can then nominate yourself or perhaps another Blogopedia user will nominate you. Then it is up to the jury members to decide.
How does the winner selected:
First all website owners send their site to the best blogs category, podcasts category and videoblogs category. These can come direct from the blogger or from users. After the nomination phase, it is up to the
jury member to sort through the nominations to find the best ten in each category. Then the final list will be put online (with an English description) so that users can begin their voting. The jury will decide the winners in Berlin.
You can submit your site right up until 14. February 2010. Weblogs, Podcasts und Videoblogs from all over the world are eligible.
The BOBs jury will announce the winners at the re:publica10 internet conference in April 2010.
